1-2-3 Download

Step 1

First, select a lesson plan ...
When you click on the title or icon of a lesson plan, a window will pop up so that you can read a short description of the lesson. It will give information about the topic and what will be covered in the lesson. If you decide you want to download the lesson, i
t is possible to choose either a MS Word or Adobe PDF file. MS Word files are editable but require that you have Microsoft Word installed on your computer. Also, these file are in a PC rather than Mac format. Adobe PDF files are not editable but can be be accessed by anyone who has the (c)Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on their computer (see Step 2 for instructions on downloading the free Reader).

Step 2 To download a MS Word File ...
When you click the "Word" link for a file, a dialog box will pop up and ask if you want to "open the file" or "save file to disk." If you select "open" it will launch the MS Word program and open up the file. After that you can treat it as any other Word document.

To download a PDF file ...
In order to view the PDF file you need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. The Adobe Acrobat Reader is FREE and can be downloaded here. This web site includes good information about the Reader and how to download it and install it on your computer.

Once the Reader is installed, you can return to NOAHnet and click on any PDF file link. A dialog box will pop up and ask if you want to "open the file" or "save file to disk." If you select "open" it will launch the Reader program and open up the file. After that you can read it, print it and save it to your computer, but you cannot edit it.

Additional information about the Adobe Reader is available here.

NOTE: Given the high graphic content of the lesson plans, download times will take several minutes depending on your Internet connection.

Step 3

You are ready to go ...
Each of the lessons includes a complete lesson plan and accompanying script for the speaker. Handouts and a suggested activity are also included. You have everything you need to provide a complete 15-20 minute lesson for your group. There is no charge for downloading or using the lessons. Editing of lessons should be limited to layout and formatting changes, and customizing examples of foods and recipes. Conceptual information and dietary recommendations should not be edited. Finally, if you do edit a lesson, we request that credits to the authors at The Foods and Nutrition Department at The University of Georgia be maintained.
